The recipients of the Mustafa (pbuh) Prize visited Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT) on the 5th of Dec, 2017. The recipients who were Dr. Sami Erol Gelenbe from the Imperial College of London, England and Dr. M. Amin Shokrollahi from the University of Bonn, Switzerland, had received the Mustafa Prize for research in the field of communication technologies in 2017.
The recipients first entered a meeting with the management team at ISTT where they were presented with a short introduction of activities to help in their understanding of ISTT.
With respect to the subject of his award winning research that was “Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Computer Systems”, Dr. Gelenbe raised the subject of key elements that induce development at Science and Technology Parks and also how to evaluate the impact of such elements including the role of international relations in his meeting with the members of ISTT management team.
After their tour of ISTT and several visits to the settled tenant companies at ISTT, Dr. Shokrollahi mentioned that the time and effort Iranian youth have put into the establishment of knowledge-based companies is commendable and he also went on to exclaim that he felt sure that offering support to start-ups can greatly reduce the drainage of intellectual experts to other countries.
The Mustafa (pbuh) Prize is a science and technology award biennially granted to the top researchers and scientists of themember statesof the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Prize is awarded in four categories, namely “Life Sciences and Medical Sciences”, “Nano Science and Nanotechnologies”, “The Information and Communication Science and Technologies”, and “Top Scientific Achievement in other fields”.
